Secours Catholique-Caritas France is a non-profit association under the French 1901 law, created in 1946 and recognised as a public-interest organisation since 1962. A service of the Catholic Church, it bases its action on the Gospel and the social doctrine of the Church.
In France, Secours Catholique is present throughout the country through its 2,800 local teams spread across 72 local offices called “delegations”.
At Secours Catholique-Caritas France, nearly 60,000 volunteers and 800 employees act against poverty and in favour of solidarity, in France and around the world. As a service of the Catholic Church whose mission is to support the most fragile, the association mobilises in mainland France, overseas territories and abroad.
Internationally, the association is present in 48 countries or zones and runs more than 335 actions in connection with the Caritas Internationalis network (160 Caritas) and its local partners.
Secours Catholique tackles all the causes of poverty, inequality and exclusion. The association appeals to public opinion and the authorities and proposes lasting solutions. It places at the heart of its action the participation of the people it supports and the strengthening of everyone’s capacity to act together.
